I am leaning toward an MA in Economics.. I want to do the research behind the marketing.. what do you think?

Go with what youre interested in it will make your studies easier but i would reccomend if you dont get your masters in marketing to at least incorporate some marketing classes into your schedule. Just so you know what youre getting into and you can show employers that you are familiar with the material.

Marketing Research uses a lot of Statistics, so a Masters in Applied Stats would be very valuable.

Definitely Economics. Try to do a lot of recreational reading, that will help as well. Also, it might be useful to develop the "market research" instincts by constantly observing and comparing prices of various commodities, classes of goods, etc. Good Luck, your choice is an excellent one.

I'm in this field and behavioral statisitics is very important. Using mathematics, forward thinking companies can actually model behavioral trends in purchasing. Also, I find that my MBA is a really good match for this type of work as well. Hope this helps...
