I did my BA in Economics and got through that math fairly easily. I love the practical side of economics ... studying how general rules are applied by Amazon.com or even by entire governments. However, when I look at MA programs in Economics ... or try to read academic papers, it's clear that Economics is as mathematical as advanced physics. In essence, it's a science for mathematicians who find business a bit cooler than rockets. I understand there has been a century-long battle between literary economists (Galbraith) and "analytical" economists (Romer?) ... is there still room for the literary types? Does anyone know of an interesting sub-field of economics that doesn't involved years of mathematical study?
