Risk management / Finance / Investment - York vs Ivey vs Queens vs Rotman?
I have done MA Economics from South Asia. I have a senior management experience of 10-11 years. I would like to study more in the field of Risk Management or Finance. I decided to attend a graduate program from Canada because its worldwide recognised with excellent reputation and very cost effective. I short listed few courses and universities but need to know which are the best program suited for Investment Banking and can give me good long term growth: 1. Master in Financial Economics, University of Toronto 2. Master in Finance, York University 3. MBA in Finance, York University 4. MBA in Finance, University of Western Ontario 5. MBA in Finance, Queens University Your suggestions and opinion matters alot to take a decision.

Go with what youre interested in it will make your studies easier but i would reccomend if you dont get your masters in marketing to at least incorporate some marketing classes into your schedule. Just so you know what youre getting into and you can show employers that you are familiar with the material.
2
Marketing Research uses a lot of Statistics, so a Masters in Applied Stats would be very valuable.
3
Definitely Economics. Try to do a lot of recreational reading, that will help as well. Also, it might be useful to develop the "market research" instincts by constantly observing and comparing prices of various commodities, classes of goods, etc. Good Luck, your choice is an excellent one.

I'm in this field and behavioral statisitics is very important. Using mathematics, forward thinking companies can actually model behavioral trends in purchasing. Also, I find that my MBA is a really good match for this type of work as well. Hope this helps...

Well, India is such a 3rd worl shithole country. And, only elitist rich ppl are allowed to study abroad. DO you have balls? Are you brave? Become something extreme like a drug smuggler. Can you get around w/ your language in Pakistan and Afghanistan? This will help loads in heroin deliveries. Or, join the French foreign legion. Go on some cool missions and write a book about it. Or perhaps become an arms dealer. There is way too much emphasis on structured education. Read loads of books. Especially if its something you're interested in. Become a self taught master of it. The vast majority of self made millionaires are either high school or college drop outs. Oh, dont have kids... Look at your parents. No money+ making babies=poverty stricken children in this capitalistic world.
