Hello Yahoo Community, I am an undergraduate student at Miami University in the Farmer School of Business. I am currently majoring in Business Economics, which will allow me to graduate with a B.S. in Business, and my concentration would be Economics. My question to you is about what Masters degree I should pursue. I could do two things: Earn an MBA or Earn an MA in Economics Which would be better for me? I would like to work in the banking industry or some other private corporation. The possibility of working for the government is also open, but I would rather work in the private sector. What are the advantages/disadvantages to each? Thank you.

Unless your goal is to be some type of economist I would suggest you go for your MBA in Finance instead. A different specialty/area of expertise (like finance) will likely make you more marketable especially in the industries you listed. Good luck!

Hi, After reading your career goals, it sounds like an MBA may be a better pursuit. Generally it is given larger weight for individuals looking to pursue a career in banking. I hope this was of help. Conrad http://www.stacyblackman.com
